Rangkuman mata kuliah matematika ekonomi Suku ke-n dari DH Besarnya nilai suku tertentu (ke-n) dari sebuah deret hitung dapat dihitung melalui sebuah rumus. Perhatikan contoh 1 dibawah. Dalam contoh tersebut nilai suku pertamanya (a) adalah 7 dan pembedanya (b) adalah 5 7, 12,17,22,27,32 S1,S2,S3,S4,S5,S6 Sn = a + (n – 1)b S1 = 7 = a S2 = 12 = a + b = a + (2 – 1)b a : suku pertama atau S S3 = 17 = a + 2b = a + (3 – 1)b b : pembeda S4 = 22 = a + 3b = a + (4 – 1)b n : indeks suku S5 = 27 = a + 4b = a + (5 – 1)b S6 = 32 = a + 5b = a + (6 – 1)b Berdasarkan rumus di atas, dengan mudah dan cepat kita dapat menghitung nilai-nilai suku tertentu. Sn = apᵑ¯¹ S1 = 5 = a S2 = 10 = a p = ap²¯¹ a = suku pertama S3 = 20 = a p p = ap² = ap³¯¹ p = pengganda S4 = 40 = a p p p = ap³ = ap⁴¯¹ n = indeks suku S5 = 80 = a p p p p = ap⁴ = ap⁵¯¹ S6 = 160 = a p p p p p = ap⁵ = ap⁶¯¹ Jumlah n suku Seperti halnya dalam deret hitung, jumlah sebuah deret ukur sampai dengan suku tertentu adalah jumlah nilai suku-sukunya sejak suku pertama sampai dengan suku ke-n yang bersangkutan. Jn = ∑ S = S1 + S2 + S3 + S4 + . . . . . + Sn

WHAT IS ECONOMICS Economics affects all of us, whether we understand how it does this or not. Economics is a science that deals with the satisfaction of human wantts through the use of scarce resources of prooduction. Since all resources are limited, there never are enough to givee individuals all that they want. The economic system of a country must deal with the problem of allocating these scarce resources among the completing parties who want them An economic system result from the way in which people organize natural resources, labor, and management skill to produce and distribute the things they want in many ways an economic system makes conflicting demands upon us. It may dictate certain beharviors, such as getting a job to provide income, and it may then change the demand for the jobs certain people are trained to perform. Engineers are a good example – years ago there was little demand for engineers, now there is a strong deman. At some point in the future we can be sure the demand for engineers will decline again. Individual workers must look out for their own interests – yet may have to join other workers to present a united front to get what they want. The ideal economic system rewards individual achievement – at the same time it encourages everyone to work together for the benefit of all.
